GIVING TESTIMONY
Larry Zimmer is
available to give personal testimony. Below is a short summary of
his journey.
“In 1964, at
the age of 15, I felt a calling, enrolled in a Catholic Seminary,
and began my walk with the Lord. Soon I realized that it would be
many years of Latin, Greek, and science before I could become a
priest. So, after 2 years of seminary, I dropped out.
While in the
seminary, I had learned to play the guitar. Upon returning to public
high school I discovered Rock and Roll. Some friends and I formed
our own group, perfected our skills, built a repertoire, made a
local name for ourselves. For the next eight years I toured the
Midwest
, played music, recorded songs and had a grand old time. Our group,
Cox’s Army, backed up and headlined for hundred of gigs, playing
with many, many big name groups. My relationship with the Lord took
a back seat.
In the
mid-70’s, some rather unfortunate incidents happened, and I began
to see that I had made a wrong turn along the way. I sought the
Lord, not quite sure if He really was there; but He answered my plea
in a most dramatic way – He revealed Himself to me…face to face!
I then knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that He indeed was real. It
was His peace that hooked me. His Holy Spirit always comes in peace.
Once my
salvation was established, my walk with Christ really began. Though
I struggled some over the next twenty years, He always stayed by my
side. In the late 70’s I branched out in a new direction, taking
courses in audio engineering. I bought some recording and sound
equipment and started recording for individuals and groups and also
doing live sound. Over the next fifteen years, I did sound
production for many more big name music acts.
In the early
90’s, a prophecy was given in Kansas City about a new move of
Christian music – a music and worship to lift the Lord’s name on
high, to touch and heal souls, to pour out grace and a spirit of
salvation. The prophecy called this move “The Sons of Thunder.”
This prophecy has dramatically influenced my sense of worship and
praise, and moved me into new areas of Christian music.
As I played with
Christian musicians over the past fourteen years, I’ve witnessed
people saved, healed, and delivered, while they were dancing,
praying, and worshipping the Lord with all their heart.
The spirit is
moving! I am ecstatic to be part of this movement. These events have
led me to put together a contemporary worship band and to produce a
CD called ‘The Sons of Thunder.’ I feel the Lord moving me to
take this music out and get it to the people, churches and
ministries.
I challenge
you…Do you want a deeper relationship with the Lord? Then
praise Him and worship Him in this new move of the Spirit. Do you
want a more intimate relationship with the Lord? Then ‘enter
His gates with thanksgiving and praise.’ Lift His name up. I pray
that He blesses you, as He is blessing me. I invite you to praise
Him, seek Him and His presence, and know that He will be there with
you.”
