Interviewing
for a new job?
By
Steve Grosskopf
Career Advisor
Your job interview will only succeed if you can turn your current
skills, knowledge, and attitude into proof that you are the ideal
candidate. An important step in mastering interviews is knowing
some techniques that will provide the desired results. This can
include practicing your story, providing examples of career
highlights and unique attributes that may not be in your resume. It
is important to know how you interview and that you highlight your
strengths. You should beware of and know how to overcome interview
traps. Interviewing is a very broad subject and should be treated
as one of the most important in your career search.
Action Item: Practice your interview with a local career
expert or volunteer to start mastering your interview style. Then
identify how you can highlight your strengths in subtle ways during
an interview.
